Cups of Cold Water

Matthew 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

(This verse talks about cups of cold water specifically, but it has the general idea of ministering.

A Great Day!!!

Saturday, July 20.

This is really the first time I have actually written a journal of the day’s events. But what happened is such a blessing I have got to share it.

As usual, on Saturdays, I have a church youth meeting at 10:30 AM. As we were on our way, we happened to meet one of the church members from our church. They were going on an outing to Sembawang Park. Our church was near the area and we offered to send them on the way there. They told us to wait awhile. Wondering why, we realized later that they had arranged to take one of the neighbourhood kids with them.

I was really really touched and encouraged by their gesture of love. This particular kid’s parents are not Christians, and their situation is not very good. The child is usually alone as both parents are working. It was really nice of this family to bring this child out on their ‘family outing.’

Many Christians should learn from their example. It was a simple act of reaching out. It is not really much inconvenience is it, to just think of another child and add one more person to your outing? But some say, it ‘family time,’ we need to privacy. Well, Jesus had no privacy at all. His only private time was spent in prayer. His life was spent reaching out to others. God knows who this family is and will reward accordingly.

It was a great day also as I bumped into several friends at the shopping mall area. Two kids from our VBS, and another 3 kids from LAMBS class. (For more info on LAMBS, visit:  http://nationalchristianacademy.wordpress.com/2013/07/06/my-first-class/)

Thanks for reading! 🙂
